Set in the idyllic background of the Lake Wales Nature Conservancy stands Indigo Ridge Organic Farm. It is at this farm where longtime friends, Mike and Kathy Smith along with Cameron Sutherland are striving to bring you top quality USDA certified organic produce.
Kathy, a crop consultant and business owner for over 30 years; initially worked with UF(IFAS) integrated pest management strategies as a technician. Even back then she was leaning toward sustainable pest management. Mike also has 30 plus years experience in conventional and organic agriculture; working for large scale farming operations growing and managing a variety of vegetable crops. Mike joined Kathy as a scout in pest management in the 1980’s; soon after, they connected with Cameron also a scout and with many years of experience in Florida agriculture and vegetable seed sales. With their combined talents it seemed destined for them to start a project of their own.
At Indigo Ridge they know: “Organic is a viable method of growing with many challenges but when you can pull a crop off there is such a sense of reward, because you did it! You just have to be willing to change and be open to allowing some new insight as to how things can be done.” That insight is what makes them good stewards of the land.
What started off as a friendship and a shared work ethic for Mike, Kathy and Cameron; has now become a valuable source of knowledge and effort, put into offering you beautiful and healthy organic produce.
