Craig Potato

Settled amid the gentle hills and flowing rivers of North Tyron is the family legacy of Craig Potato. The original farm in Tryon, PEI was purchased in 1840 as a one hundred block acre of land by Johnny “Brick” Leard. It was bought as a retirement farm and has thrived for seven generations. Craig Potato is currently operated by Lester and Sharon Craig along with their two sons and families.

Craig potato has always been an environmentally aware Farm. Long before the farm became Certified organic, there was a strong emphasis on sustainable agricultural practices, making sure that future generations would be able to enjoy the same healthy Craig Potato products. They chose to farm organically because it fell in line with their idea of what farming should be.

It was a natural step to venture into organic farming. This meant there needed to be some major improvements in the way their work was accomplished. In order for this to happen, the land needed to be clean of pesticides or other chemicals which many farmers currently rely on. Using more natural methods for obtaining well balanced soil, proper pest management, and plant health allowed the farm to produce a nutrient-rich and chemical-free product.

Today, their certified Organic products travel all over North America as other likeminded people are seeing the importance of sustainable Agriculture.
